Overview
The AI translation feature allows you to use our integration to OpenAI in order to make translations of content to your language versions. Currently, the translation feature is applied to elements in the Channels module and to the Promotions module.
Getting started
In order to get started with AI translation, the feature must be enabled in System Settings under "AI". Here, there is only one editable field. This is where you need to insert the API key from your OpenAI account. In order to find the API key for your OpenAI account, please visit this article on OpenAI's help center, which will guide you to how to find the key.
After you have inserted your API key here, you can use the translate feature for translating content between languages in the Channels module and in Promotions content.
Please note that in order to translate content, you need to use Language versioning. Please ensure that you are using Languages and we advise you to read this article before getting started with AI translation: How to Create Language Versions.
The translation feature will attempt to translate every text bit in your content element/promotion. This includes parametrized content that you cannot press and edit - this could for example be text on buttons. However, in some cases, you might want to use the same brand-text across languages, which is why there are different ways in which to perform the translation. Here are the ways of performing the translation.
Translating an entire piece of content
In order to translate all text within a piece of content (email, SMS, landing page, etc), please follow the steps here:
- Navigate to the desired content element in the Channels module.
- Add a language to the element in the top bar:
(If you don't see this icon, you have not setup Languages correct. Check this article before proceeding: How to Create Language Versions. - After having fill out the content for the Default version of your content element, go to a language version of the same element.
- Click the translate button on the new selected language:
- Your content will now be translated to the selected language. You will be prompted with a message in top when the translation is complete, and whether the translation was succesful or whether it failed.
- Remember to save your content before proceeding in your work.
If you should wish to undo your translation and return to default content, you can press the translate icon again and it will be reverted to default content:
Please note that this is an AI translation of the content and we advise you to verify the content, before going live with this.
Translating one block at a time
Instead of translating the whole content element in one go, you can choose to translate one block at a time. You do this by marking the block and pressing on the options button here:
This will only translate the text of this block.
Translating a rich text field
If you only wish to translate one rich text field at a time, in order to, for example avoid translating brand-specific wording that is defined in the template and controlled by template parameters, you can simply mark the rich text field that you need to translate and press 'Translate' in your right hand menu:
Translating Promotional Content
In order to translate Promotional content, you should go to the Promotions module and select Promotion Content:
Here, you will find the same Language functionality, which will apply to content in promotions only. In this way, you can setup a Promotion with your different Propositions across languages, without having to set them up in a content element beforehand.
In order to use the translation feature on Promotional Content, you should:
- Create a promotion with propositions
- Add a language version to the promotion
- Fill out the content for the default version of the promotion. It could look like this:
Now, you can select another Language than the default language, and press the translate icon according to the steps described above, and your promotion will be translated.
