Push Notification Use Cases
Push Notifications can be used to target individual recipients with personalised marketing messages. It allows you to target individuals with specific offers and promotions that are relevant to them, increasing the likelihood that they will make a purchase. The Push Notifications can also be used to remind customers about items they have left in their shopping cart. Personalised Push Notifications can help to increase customer loyalty and encourage customers to return to your store.
This section will introduce you to the different use cases of where Push Notifications can be utilised as part of your marketing automation strategy. The use cases are based on Café Connect, a fictional company selling coffee both in stores and subscription based.
Improved Personalisation and Experience
Push Notifications allows Café Connect to improve their personalised marketing by providing a way to target their customers with specific messages based on their interests or past interactions and behaviour. By using a Push Notification Café Connect can let their customers know when their favourite coffee beans are back in stock. The intention with this Push Notification is to reserve the coffee directly from the app. By only showing the products that are in the interest of the customers, Café Connect can improve the overall customer experience.
Example of a Push Notification
A Café Connect customer adds an item to their cart but does not complete the purchase. To increase sales they decide to send a Push Notification to these customers with the product link. Thereby they can bring them back to the checkout page.
Café Connect discount coupons to their customers in a Push Notification to encourage conversion and generate profit. They also decided to add this Push Notification to a winback flow for previous customers.
Café Connect is planning a sale, and they are planning to do both a sale promotion and a flash sale/time-bound sale to increase conversions. Their sale promotions are running during the year when it is time for summer, winter, Christmas and other seasonal happenings. Their flash sales/time-bound sales are designed for a short duration. However, during both sales, they will send their customers Push Notifications with coffee beans, coffee grinders and other coffee related items on sale.
It is important to reward your customer to maintain long term relations. Therefore Café Connect has decided to do that through loyalty clubs and loyalty points. They send their customers Push Notifications with updates about their loyalty club benefits and points and how they can redeem. This will increase re-engagement and bring customers back to Café Connect.
Café Connect wants to increase re-engagement and drive more traffic to their store, their app and their website, and therefore they decide to send their customers Push Notifications with exclusive offers.
A way to increase repeat traffic is through a thorough welcome flow. Café Connect have therefore created a series of Push Notifications they send out spread over a month, and whenever a new user subscribes to the Café Connect newsletter, the new user will start receiving the Push Notifications for this flow. This will keep their customers engaged and aware of their store.
When a Café Connect customer places an order, they will receive an email confirmation and a Push Notification with updates on the order status, such as when the order has been shipped or when it will be delivered. This will increase awareness of Café Connect but also be appreciated by customers that they are being updated with changes to their order.
When a Café Connect customer makes a purchase, they will receive an email or SMS message with a survey link. If the customer has forgotten to answer the survey, Café Connect will send them a Push Notification reminding them to complete the survey. Café Connect can also decide to send them a Push Notification with a deep link for the survey instead of the email or SMS message.
Café Connect has customers with different default languages, and in order to personalise their Push Notifications they want to send in their customers' own language. To do that they apply the easy language version.
A Café Connect customer has installed the Café Connect app on their smartphone. The customer browses the app and views the page regarding Membership options. Furthermore, Push Notifications allows Café Connect to target each of their customers with specific offers and Promotions that are relevant to them, increasing the likelihood that the customer will make a purchase.
In order to give the customers in Café Connect's physical stores the best possible experience every time they visit one of the stores, a Push Notification is sent to the customer asking them to evaluate their visit. Letting the customer know that any bad experiences are taken care of will contribute to prevent the customer from churning.
