In Agillic, you can define a default value in case the FIRSTNAME value is empty. This will make sure that when you send an outbound communication, recipients who haven't filled in their first name will receive a default message such as 'Welcome Customer'.
You can add a personalised default first name to an email by making a Promotion with two Propositions. The first is for those who have a FIRSTNAME and the second for those who don't have a FIRSTNAME. Propositions act as the different variations of a Promotion that you want to show to different recipients.
How to Add a Personalised Default First Name
- Log into Staging.
- Create a Promotion.
- Create two Propositions.
- Fill in the Conditions for the Proposition who have a first name. Leave the Conditions empty for the second one - this will be our default Proposition. For example, Person Data - FIRSTNAME - is empty - Condition not met.
You can now insert the Promotion in the email you wish to send out to your recipients.
A Promotion with two Propositions - one who has a first name and one who doesn't have a first name
- Open your email.
- Add a Content Block.
- Insert the Promotion in your Block.
- Click 'Select Promotion field' and fill in the name of the Promotion field, such as 'Firstname'.
- Fill in the relevant text value for your Propositions.
- Click 'Save'.
- Publish to Production.
Your email now has a Promotion with two Propositions. These two Propositions will show to a recipient who has filled in a first name or will show the default entry to recipients who haven't filled in a first name.
Don't forget to test your email before going live to verify that it's been configured correctly.
When you click 'Save' in the email, you can execute the campaign in the Flow module
