In the Email System Settings, you can decide on a series of global settings for emails in Agillic. You can do this in the Administration module under System Settings.
In the Email Settings tab in the Administration module, you'll find the following settings panels:
- Inactive Panel
- List-Unsubscribe Panel
- Reply-To Panel
- Email Headers Panel
- Link URL Parameters Panel
- Global Email Send Permission Panel
Inactive Panel
In the Inactive panel, you can decide if recipients should be set to inactive if a number of emails aren't opened within a certain period.
When a recipient becomes inactive, the Person Data 'INACTIVE_EMAIL' is set to 'True'. Agillic will still send emails to recipients who have INACTIVE set to true unless you check the checkbox 'Don't send to inactive emails'.
List-Unsubscribe Panel
Some email clients support a feature known as List-Unsubscribe. This allows a recipient to unsubscribe via the email client without clicking on an unsubscribe link inside the email.
If a recipient uses List-Unsubscribe, Agillic automatically sets the Person Data UNSUBSCRIBE to 'True' and UNSUBSCRIBE_DATE to the time of the list-unsubscribe.
This will effectively block Agillic from sending more emails to the recipient as Agillic won't send emails to recipients whose UNSUBSCRIBED Person Data field is set to True.
Using the settings, you can specify any events you wish to trigger when a recipient uses the List-Unsubscribe feature.
Note that if you remove the UNSUBSCRIBE Event from List-Unsubscribe, it doesn't prevent recipients from having UNSUBSCRIBED set to 'True'.
Reply-To Panel
A reply-to address is an email address that recipients can reply to when receiving emails from you. By using the Reply-To feature in the Email Editor, you can set a different Reply-To email address on all your emails. Using the Reply-To feature in the Email settings allows you to set a global Reply-To email address that applies to all emails in your Channels module.
You can set global Reply-to addresses for Staging and Production.
Email Headers Panel
You can set a custom Email header to customize metadata for your Email. An example of a custom Email header could be as the following:
- Name: X-Auto-Response-Suppress Value: OOF
By setting a customized email header it will minimise the number of auto-reply emails you get in response to your emails.
The type of email headers you want to set up depends on your use case.
Link URL Parameters Panel
In the Link URL Parameters panel, you can set global link parameters for your emails. This means line values are added to the end of your link so you can track how many people use each link.
An example of a Link URL parameter could be:
- Key: myCustomParam
- Value: EMAIL
- Domain: mywebsite.com
The above example indicates that all outbound links to the domain “mywebsite.com” in all emails will get the query parameter myCustomParam with the value of the current person’s email address someone@somewhere.com. This would look like www.mywebsite.com/mypage.html?myCustomParam=someone@somewhere.com.
Global Email Send Permission Panel
The Global Email Send Permission feature works as a Global Target group. It allows you to set a series of Conditions so you can segment specific recipients from your database in Agillic across your instance. The difference between a Global Target Group and the Global Email Send Permission panel is that you need to set a Global Target Group on the individual Flow. However, a Global Email Send Permission is set in the Email Settings and works on all Flows when the setting is set.
When setting up a Global Email Send Permission, you need to create a Target Group that filters on the desired conditions and then add it to the Global Email Send Permission Panel. An example of a Global Target Group would be to check for valid email recipients.
