Agillic's tracking script allows you to track the activity on an external website. It does this by implementing the tracking script into the header of the website. Once this is set up, if a recipient clicks on a personal outbound communication or Portal page, the tracked data is linked to that recipient. This could be useful for tracking the activity on your own website.
To set up the tracking script, you need a valid domain name to be set up in Agillic. Once Agillic has verified your domain, Agillic can generate the tracking script which you can insert into the header of your website. Once you send your communications using the verified domain and link to the website you're tracking, Agillic will then be able to store data for recipients' activity on the website.
For example, if your verified domain is mail.agilliccandy.com, Agillic will be able to track recipient data on the website agilliccandy.com when the tracking script has been implemented in the header of the website.
Using the tracking script will show a new type of Condition based on the activity data for each recipient.
Make sure the Agillic tracking script is a part of your subscription of Agillic before you begin to use it. Once you've purchased the tracking script from us, you can learn more about how to set up the Agillic tracking script here.
What does the Agillic Tracking Script Track?
The Agillic Tracking Server stores all visits by users on pages with the Agillic Tracking Script. The data includes:
- The RECIPIENT ID, once linked to an Agillic recipient.
- The timestamp of the visit.
- The URL, given in all lowercase, with no parameter or protocol.
For example, if a user visits the following site:
https://AgillicCandy.com/Product/Chocolate_Bar?Campaign_ID=1234
Agillic stores the following URL:
agilliccandy.com/product/chocolate_bar
If you have specific URL parameters that you want the tracking script to include in the tracking, please contact Agillic Support with a list of the URL parameter names.
Agillic stores the tracking data for different periods of time, depending on if Agillic identifies the user as a recipient in your Agillic instance or not.
- The Agillic Tracking Server stores tracking data for identified recipients for 360 days.
- The Agillic Tracking Server stores tracking data for not-identified recipients for 30 days.
If you want to get a list of URL's that have been tracked for all known and unknown recipients, you can get this by executing an Activity Export which includes web tracking data.
Warning: If the domain used for tracking is changed or deleted, all tracking data is lost.
