When reporting on your recipients and their data, you might want to gain an insight into the types of devices, applications, or clients a recipient uses to access your emails.
This data is available in the form of three Fixed Person Data fields, which are as follows:
- LAST_USED_APP_FOR_EMAIL
- LAST_OPEN_CLIENT
- LAST_OPEN_DEVICE
The above Person Data fields only show the most recently used application, client, or device by the recipients.
These Person Data fields can have a series of values, as specified below.

LAST_USED_APP_FOR_EMAIL |
The application or browser used to open the last email. Some apps register as a browser. | Mobile Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Chrome Mobile. |
LAST_OPEN_CLIENT |
The client used to open the last email. The 'Other' category will capture all minor clients. | Windows, iPhone, macOS. |
LAST_OPEN_DEVICE |
The type of device the last email was opened from. | MOBILE, DESKTOP. |

There are numerous ways to report on these Person Data fields. Simply include them when creating a report or creating a Target Group and adding Conditions.
To give some examples, we will walk through two methods in which you can report on these Person Data fields.
- Completing three pie chart reports for an overview of the current popularity of different devices, applications, and clients.
- Exporting all recipients with a value in either LAST_USED_APP_FOR_EMAIL, LAST_OPEN_CLIENT, or LAST_OPEN_DEVICE to analyse the data externally.
How to Report on Application, Client, and Device Distribution with Pie Charts
If you create three pie charts with the Fixed Person Data fields mentioned above, you will get an overview of the most popular applications, clients, and devices across your instance.
- Log in to Production.
- Open the Reports module.
- Create a new Dashboard or navigate to an existing Dashboard.
- Create a new report.
- Fill in a name for your report in the 'Name' field.
- Under 'Select Data' choose 'Person Data'.
- Drag one of the three Fixed Person Data types to the 'Selected Data' area.
- Under 'Report Types, select 'Pie Chart'.
- Check the checkbox for 'recipients with non-empty values'.
- Click 'Refresh'.
- Save your Report.
- Repeat steps 1 to 9 to create pie charts for the two other Person Data fields.
Now, you've created three pie charts to report on the popularity of applications, clients, and devices recently used to access your emails.

How to Export Recipient Data on the Application, Client, or Device Most Recently Used to Open an Email With
- Log in to Production.
- Open the Reports module.
- Create a new Dashboard or navigate to an existing Dashboard.
- Create a new report.
- Under 'Select Data', choose 'Person Data'.
- Drag all three Fixed Person Data to the 'Selected Data' area.
- Select the Report Type 'Recipients Export'.
- Click 'Refresh'.
- Click the 'Recipient Export' button.
- A new window will appear where you can drag the three Person Data fields to the 'Selected Data' area along with any other Person Data fields you want to include in your export.
- Click the 'Export' button.
- Your export will save locally on your computer.
Now, you've exported all recipients who have a value in either LAST_USED_APP_FOR_EMAIL, LAST_OPEN_CLIENT, or LAST_OPEN_DEVICE. The data is now ready for you to analyse externally.
A Recipient Export where you're ready to export all recipients who have a value in LAST_USED_APP_FOR_EMAIL, LAST_OPEN_CLIENT, or LAST_OPEN_DEVICE. The export will include the recipient's data for all the Person Data fields in the 'Selected data' area.
