Effective use of Dynamic Content blocks in your communication requires a solid grasp of Data Conditions. This guide delves into the nuances of Data Conditions and how they determine the data used when setting up Dynamic Content blocks. We will explore the various data types and the conditions you can apply to ensure the right content reaches your recipients.

Data Conditions
In certain scenarios, you may need to limit the data available to ensure your recipients receive the most relevant content from your data source. This is accomplished by setting conditions on your data source.
Data Conditions are rooted in specific data field types, each dictating how you can define conditions. Here's a breakdown of these data types:
- Boolean: Constrains data to true, false, or empty values.
- Number: Allows conditions for numbers with decimals.
- String: Matches data based on defined field values or part of those values.
- Date: Restricts data to fixed dates or dynamic date ranges.
- Timestamp: Similar to Date, but with hours and minutes available.
You can identify the data field type by simply hovering your cursor over its name.
Inclusive and Exclusive Conditions
By default, data is inclusive, meaning that the defined conditions specify what data to include in your communication. However, you can also establish conditions for data fields to be excluded by changing "Is" to "Is not" in the dropdown.
Conditions for Different Data Field Types
Let's explore the specific conditions for each data field type:
Boolean Data Fields
Conditions can be set as true, false, or empty.
Number Data fields
Conditions can be defined to match data that is equal to, greater than, or lesser than specific numbers, or one or more numbers from an array.
String Data Fields
Conditions can be established to match data with the same value or a portion of the value you define. You can also create an array of values to match.
Date and Timestamp Data Fields
Conditions for these fields differ depending on whether they are fixed times or dynamic time ranges.
Specific Time
Select a date from the calendar and define whether the data you want to fetch matches dates or timestamps:
- On: Includes all data with the same date or timestamp as selected.
- Before: Encompasses data with dates or timestamps before the selected time.
- After: Encompasses data with dates or timestamps after the selected time.
- Empty: Includes data with no value.
- Every year: Functions like "On" but repeats annually for automated content that requires updates.
Dynamic Time
Dynamic time ranges are linked to when communication is evaluated, based on the channel (e.g., sendout time for emails, visit time for web pages, or PDF generation time for print).
Dynamic time conditions offer a dynamic date range, ensuring that content is always relevant.
Your options on dynamic time ranges vary based on what you select.
"On", "Before", and "After"
Each of these options has additional settings to specify which data to include. "On" only requires a definition, while "Before" and "After" require specifying how much before or after.
No timeframe
Includes data with dates or timestamps that match the day of evaluation only, such as today's order items.
And "Later"
Encompasses data with dates or timestamps matching the day of evaluation and beyond, ideal for future events.
And "Earlier"
Encompasses data with dates or timestamps matching the day of evaluation and earlier, perfect for historical data.
